There is SO much discussion about bladder leakage, on tv ad’s, in sports and competitions – but is it normal to leak?
The answer is no.
Bladder leakage occur during exercise when the force or stress you put on your urinary tract are greater than the muscles can control, resulting in a little (or a lot!) or leakage.
This is called stress urinary incontinence – not “light bladder leakage” or “exercise induced urinary leakage”.
Bladder leakage is common with 1 in 3 women experiencing these symptoms – but it is NOT normal.
Leaking from your bladder only happens when the stress on your bladder and pelvic floor is too high for your body to control. Depending on the strength of your pelvic floor and how hard the tasks is means that leaking can happen with a range of stresses, from coughing, laughing, lifting up the shopping or heavy weight lifting.
This means that the exercises you can do to help reduce your lifting has to be specialised to help you stay dry with the activities you want to achieve!
The following video is about Women and leaking during working out – which is NOT normal!
Pelvic floor training is effective in over 80% of women.
