Advanced shoulder rehab exercise
Ellen, a Senior Physiotherapist at myPhysioSA, teaches an advanced shoulder exercise. This is for retraining using your shoulder with a weight in front and above the shoulders.
During these movements you must always have the proper shoulder blade movement and have no pain in the shoulder during.

Shoulder pain can limit your normal range of movement. This then effects many of your daily activities, such as hanging the washing on the line, reaching for things, getting dressed, through to sports & leisure activities.
The first step is to settle the acute shoulder pain down. Then the focus is on training good quality movement of the shoulder blade then the shoulder itself. Lastly, we need to strengthen all the shoulder muscles for reaching up and lifting activities. That is exactly what this exercise is for.
Check our other video on shoulder blade strengthening here.
Ensure the exercise is always pain free and comfortable to do.
A Physiotherapist is trained and experienced at diagnosing shoulder pain causes and problems. Physio’s have the skills to then guide you through a staged rehab program for your shoulder problem.
